Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between Jambo Ride Tanzania (“Jambo Ride”, “we”, “us”) and you (“User”, “Passenger”, “Driver”, or “you”). By creating an account or using the Jambo Ride platform, you agree to these terms.

1. The Jambo Ride platform

1.1 Jambo Ride provides an electronic platform that connects passengers with independent transport providers (drivers). Jambo Ride does not provide transport services itself; we are an intermediary technology provider.

1.2 To use the apps, you must register for an account, maintain a valid payment method where required, and be at least 18 years old.

1.3 Drivers must complete identity and vehicle verification (KYC) and comply with applicable LATRA and other Tanzanian transport regulations before going online.

2. Booking and fares

2.1 Fare estimates: Fares shown before booking are estimates based on distance, duration, and traffic. The final fare may vary if the destination changes mid-trip or if conditions materially alter the route.

2.2 Payment methods: Passengers may pay using cash, in-app wallet, or mobile money (including M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, and HaloPesa where available). You agree to pay the full fare upon completion of the trip.

2.3 Taxes: Displayed fares are inclusive of applicable local regulatory levies and value-added taxes under the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, unless we state otherwise.

3. Cancellations and fees

3.1 You may cancel a ride request at any time. A cancellation fee may apply if you cancel more than 3 minutes after a driver has accepted your request, or if the driver arrives at the pickup and waits longer than 5 minutes without the trip starting.

4. Conduct and responsibilities

4.1 Passengers and drivers agree to treat each other with respect. We maintain zero tolerance for verbal abuse, physical harassment, or damage to vehicles or property.

4.2 Passengers are responsible for cleaning or repair costs incurred to a driver's vehicle resulting from their ride (excluding normal wear and tear).

4.3 For safety and legal compliance under LATRA regulations, seatbelts must be worn at all times during the journey where the vehicle is so equipped.

4.4 Drivers must maintain valid licences, insurance, and vehicle standards, and must not accept trips while impaired or otherwise unfit to drive.

5. Wallets, rewards, and promotions

5.1 In-app wallet balances, top-ups, and payouts are subject to these terms and any payment-partner rules.

5.2 Promotional wallet credits, loyalty credits (including TRA receipt scanning), referral bonuses, and similar rewards are governed by our Rewards Terms, which form part of your agreement with us when you claim or receive a reward.

6. Limitation of liability

6.1 Because transport services are provided by independent drivers, Jambo Ride is not liable for direct or indirect damages, property loss, or injuries arising during a trip, except to the extent such exclusion is not permitted by applicable law. Disputes about the transport service itself should be raised through in-app support so we can help mediate where appropriate.

6.2 Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or other liability that cannot be excluded under Tanzanian law.

7. Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, pose a safety risk, or are reasonably suspected of fraud or abuse. You may request account deletion as described on our Delete account page.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will post the revised terms on this page and update the last-updated date. Continued use of the apps after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
